Browser games ask less of your computer than a desktop client, but they are more sensitive to what else your browser is doing. Most performance complaints come down to four or five fixable causes.

Keep your browser current and enable hardware acceleration in its settings. Close unused tabs before a session, since each one competes for the same memory and graphics resources.
Ad blockers, script managers and privacy extensions sometimes block the same assets a game needs, which shows up as a stuck loading bar rather than an error. Test the game in a private window with extensions disabled to confirm.
A corrupted asset cache causes missing graphics and repeated reloads. Clear cached files for the game's domain only, then reload. Avoid clearing cookies unnecessarily, as that logs you out of the game.
Real-time browser games suffer more from unstable latency than from low bandwidth. A wired connection, or moving closer to the router, usually helps more than any in-game setting. Turn off large background downloads and cloud sync while you play.
Many browser games include quality, animation or effects toggles. Reducing effects and disabling background animation often doubles a laptop's frame rate, and on older hardware it makes the difference between playable and not.
